Perennials come back year after year, and are easy to care for. Most perennials bloom anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. If you want color all year long, you must plant carefully. We recommend planting perennials with differing bloom times to get blooms all year long. Perennials typically require dividing every few years, to keep them looking their best. Perennials come in many shapes, colors, and sizes – full sun to full shade, read those plant tags. To perform their best, they need to be planted in conditions they like best. It is important to remember to plant perennials that are only suggested for your hardiness zone. Wisconsin is between zone 3-5. Then use the following formula: Multiply the length (in feet) X width (in feet) X depth (in inches), divide the total by 324. One yard generally covers an area 8’x10’x4”.
